Petr Nouzovský, recognized as one of Europe’s eminent cellists of his generation, performs regularly on many international concert stages. He has garnered international acclaim for his deeply expressive musicianship and musical virtuosity, as well as for the gloriously sonorous tone of his 1921 Georg Rauer cello. This present concert season Petr Nouzovský will perform in numerous recitals and orchestral concerts throughout Europe, the U. S., and Asia. In Europe he will appear with the Krakow Philharmonic, the S l o v a k P h i l h a r m o n i c, the SWF Philharmonie, the P r a g u e R a d i o S y m p h o n y O r c h e s t r a, and others. His new recording of Bohuslav Martinu’s complete works for cello and orchestra, produced with the Pilsen Philharmonic under the baton of T o m á š B r a u n e r (Dabringhaus und Grimm), was awarded the 2017 Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and the 2018 Classic Prague Award; glowing reviews appeared in the Frankfurter Allgemeine or the Pizzicato Luxembourg. The Pilsen Philharmonic has named Petr Nouzovský its ‘Soloist in Residence’ for 2014–2015 and 2015–2016. From hundreds of applicants worldwide, Petr Nouzovský has been one of the only ten chosen to participate in the legendary Piatigorsky Seminars in Los Angeles; subsequently, he was invited to return for a second time, which is considered even more exceptional. He has attended master classes all over the world and studied with such legends of his instrument as M s t i s l a v R o s t r o p o v i c h, B o r i s P e r g a m e n s c h i k o w, F r a n z H e l m e r s o n, or D a v i d G e r i n g a s.
Gérard Wyss had studied with Paul B a u m g a r t n e r at the Music Academy in Basel, Switzerland, where he subsequently taught Lied interpretation and chamber music at the graduate level until 2009. His penchant for musical partnerships then turned into vocation, and before long he played with Pierre Fournier and Arthur Grumiaux. Today Gérard Wyss is much demanded as an accompanist as well as chamber musician, performing all over Europe, as well as in Canada, the U. S., Brazil, and Japan. The singers he has accompanied include Edith Mathis, Cecilia Bartoli, Martina Janková, Nicolai Gedda, Wolfgang Holzmair, and Georg Nigl. Many chamber musicians appreciate his experience and sensitivity, such as the cellists Sol Gabetta, Mstislav Rostropovich, Heinrich Schiff, Petr Nouzovský, Patrick Demenga, and Antonio Meneses, or the violinist Raphaël Oleg. Gérard Wyss is a regular guest at international music festivals in Salzburg, Montreux, Stresa, Lucerne, Berlin, Prague, Schleswig-Holstein, and many others. Gérard Wyss has also made numerous recordings for the radio and record companies, such as Denon, Novalis, Pan Classics, Philips, Tudor, and Avie.
